Wainscot Wall Paneling Calculator

Compute panel widths with custom terminating stiles and generate a cut list.

How to use

Quick setup + common defaults

Wall

Enter full wall width first. Use Feature Center + Snap to Center to align panels to windows, outlets, or fixtures.

Stiles

Left & right term stiles are typically the same width. A common size is 3.5 in (1×4). Internal stiles are often the same for consistency.

Panels

Set # Panels, then choose a Section Pattern. Panels are kept equal width with stiles inserted between.

Snap to Center
Use Feature Center to align a panel center to a window, outlet, fixture, or sconce.
  • Feature Center represents the distance from the left edge of the wall to an important visual reference (window, outlet, fixture, sconce, etc.).
  • Clicking Snap to Center adjusts the left and right terminating stiles equally so that the center of a panel aligns with the Feature Center.
  • The calculator evaluates all panels and snaps to the one that produces the smallest alignment error.
  • Panel count and internal stile widths are not changed. Only the terminating stiles are adjusted.
  • If the layout is already centered, snapping may result in no visible change.
